This Privacy Policy explains how Pairhound LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as Pairhound ("Pairhound," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you use the Pairhound website, mobile applications, and related services collectively referred to as the "Service."

Pairhound is an adult social platform that helps people find others for platonic activities and in-person socializing. The Service is available only to people who are at least 18 years old.

1. Scope and Who Controls Your Information

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed through the Service, including information collected when you:

• Create or maintain an account
• Create or respond to an activity
• Communicate with another user
• Enable location-based features
• Contact customer support
• Report another user or safety concern
• Otherwise interact with the Service

For purposes of applicable privacy and data-protection laws, Pairhound LLC is generally the controller or business responsible for determining how and why personal information is processed.

This Privacy Policy does not govern third-party websites, venues, services, or applications that may be linked from the Service.

2. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on the features you use and the permissions you provide.

A. Account and Authentication Information

We may collect:

• Your name or display name
• Email address
• Date of birth or age-confirmation information
• Password hash, authentication token, or third-party sign-in identifier
• Account settings and preferences
• Account creation and login history
• Information used to confirm that you are eligible to use the Service

If you sign in through a third-party service such as Apple or Google, we receive information that service makes available according to your settings and authorization.

B. Profile Information

We collect information you choose to include in your profile, such as:

• Profile photographs
• Biography or introduction
• Interests, hobbies, and preferred activities
• General geographic location
• Availability and social preferences
• Other profile details you choose to provide

Profile information may be visible to other users as described in Section 6.

C. Activities and Social Interactions

We collect information about how you use Pairhound's social features, including:

• Activities you create, join, save, or decline
• Activity descriptions, locations, dates, and participation requirements
• Invitations and requests to participate
• RSVPs and attendance-related information
• Blocks, preferences, and connections
• Availability indicators, including features such as Free Tonite
• Interactions with profiles, activities, recommendations, and messages

D. Messages and Other Content

We process content you submit through the Service, including:

• Messages sent to other users
• Activity discussions
• Photographs and other uploaded content
• Reports, appeals, and safety complaints
• Communications with customer support
• Feedback or suggestions provided to Pairhound

Messages are not necessarily confidential from their recipients. A recipient may save, copy, photograph, or share a message outside Pairhound despite our rules or technical safeguards.

Pairhound may use automated systems to identify spam, fraud, abuse, safety risks, and potential violations of our Terms of Service.

Authorized personnel may access communications when they are:

• Reported by a user
• Flagged by automated systems
• Included in a support request
• Relevant to a safety or security investigation
• Required for legal compliance
• Reasonably necessary to enforce our Terms of Service

E. Location Information

We may collect several forms of location information:

• A city, neighborhood, region, postal area, or country you provide
• An approximate location derived from your IP address
• Device location provided with your permission
• Precise location while a feature requiring it is enabled

We request device permission before collecting precise location where required by the operating system or applicable law.

Pairhound does not share your device's precise coordinates with other users. Other users only ever see an approximate location, geographic area, or estimated distance.

F. Device, Usage, and Technical Information

We automatically collect certain technical information, including:

• IP address
• Browser and device type
• Operating-system and application version
• Device or application identifiers
• Language and time-zone settings
• Pages, screens, and features accessed
• Dates and times of use
• Referring pages or sources
• Crash reports, performance data, and diagnostic information
• Cookie, local-storage, and similar technology data
• Security and authentication events

G. Safety, Moderation, and Verification Information

We may collect:

• Reports made by or about you
• Records of blocks, warnings, suspensions, and enforcement actions
• Evidence submitted in connection with a report or appeal
• Fraud and risk indicators
• Information concerning suspected underage use
• Information used to investigate threats or unsafe conduct
• Age or identity documentation when reasonably necessary to verify eligibility or address a serious safety concern

If we request identification documents, we will explain what is required and why.

We will seek to retain only the information reasonably necessary to complete the verification or investigation.

H. Customer-Support Information

When you contact us, we collect:

• The contents of your request
• Relevant account information
• Records of our response

I. Payment Information

If Pairhound offers paid services, payment processing may be handled by a third-party payment provider.

Pairhound may receive transaction information such as:

• The service purchased
• Transaction amount
• Transaction date
• Payment status
• Billing country
• A limited payment-method identifier

Pairhound does not receive or store complete payment-card numbers when payment is handled entirely by a third-party processor.

J. Information From Other People and Sources

We may receive information about you from:

• Other users, including reports, invitations, messages, and photographs
• Authentication, hosting, security, and fraud-prevention providers
• App stores and payment processors
• Publicly available sources when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, impersonation, or safety concerns
• Government authorities or law enforcement where permitted or required by law

3. Sensitive Information

Some information processed by Pairhound may be treated as sensitive personal information under applicable law, including:

• Precise geolocation
• Government identification information used for verification
• Account login credentials
• Private communications
• Profile or message content that reveals information such as health, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or political views

Creating and maintaining a standard profile requires you to provide certain personal characteristics — including your gender and sexual preference, along with your race, religion, relationship status, and education. Some of this information may be treated as sensitive personal information under applicable law. We require it because it is necessary to provide the Service you request: Pairhound uses these characteristics to match you with compatible people and activities and to honor other users' stated preferences about who they meet, which the Service cannot do if this information is missing or hidden. You can update these values at any time by editing your profile, but they cannot be left blank while your account is active. If you do not want Pairhound to process this information, you can pause or delete your account at any time.

Where applicable law requires a basis for processing this information, we rely on its necessity to provide the Service you have requested rather than on your consent.

Under some privacy laws, characteristics such as information revealing your race, religion, or sexual orientation are treated as a special category of personal information. Where that is the case, because you provide them as part of a profile that is displayed to other users, we process them on the basis that you have manifestly made them public, in addition to their necessity for the Service.

Beyond the characteristics described above, you should avoid including sensitive information in your public profile — for example, in your bio — unless you are comfortable making it visible to other users.

Pairhound does not use precise location, private communications, or sensitive profile information for targeted advertising.

How we use message content. Automated systems may process the content of messages and activity discussions in order to deliver them; to detect spam, fraud, abuse, and safety risks; and to score, rank, or present conversations and suggestions within the Service. Authorized personnel may review specific communications only in the circumstances described in Section 2(D). Pairhound does not use the content of your private messages to build advertising profiles or to train general-purpose artificial-intelligence models, and does not sell your messages.

Biometrics. Pairhound does not create or use faceprints, facial-geometry templates, or other biometric identifiers derived from profile photographs. If Pairhound ever introduces biometric processing, we will first provide a separate notice, obtain any consent required by law, and update this Privacy Policy before that processing begins. This Privacy Policy is not advance authorization for biometric processing.

4. How We Use Information

We use personal information for the following purposes.

A. Provide and Operate the Service

This includes:

• Creating and maintaining accounts
• Authenticating users
• Displaying profiles and activities
• Enabling messaging and participation requests
• Providing location-based features
• Processing subscriptions or purchases
• Providing customer support

B. Recommend People and Activities

We use information such as:

• Location
• Interests
• Preferences
• Availability
• Previous interactions

This information may be used to rank or recommend potentially relevant people and activities.

These recommendations may be generated using automated systems, but they are not intended to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

C. Maintain Safety and Integrity

We use information to:

• Detect fake or duplicate accounts
• Prevent spam, scams, scraping, and unauthorized automation
• Investigate reports and disputes
• Detect suspected underage use
• Enforce our Terms of Service
• Protect users from threatening or abusive conduct
• Secure accounts and infrastructure
• Prevent, investigate, or respond to fraud and unlawful activity

D. Communicate With You

We may send:

• Account-verification messages
• Security notices
• Activity or participation updates
• Service and policy updates
• Customer-support responses
• Safety warnings
• Marketing messages where permitted by law and according to your preferences

You may opt out of marketing communications.

You cannot opt out of essential account, legal, safety, security, or transactional communications.

E. Analyze and Improve Pairhound

We use information to:

• Understand how the Service is used
• Diagnose errors and performance problems
• Develop and test features
• Improve recommendations and usability
• Conduct internal research
• Create aggregated or de-identified statistics

F. Meet Legal Obligations and Protect Legal Rights

We may process information to:

• Comply with applicable laws and valid legal process
• Respond to lawful government requests
• Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
• Maintain required business and tax records
• Protect the rights, safety, and property of Pairhound, our users, and others

G. Automated Systems, Moderation, and Human Review

We use automated systems in two main ways:

• Recommendations. Signals such as location, interests, preferences, availability, and previous interactions are used to rank and suggest potentially relevant people and activities. You can influence these results through your settings and your activity on the Service.
• Safety and moderation. Automated systems help detect spam, fraud, fake or duplicate accounts, prohibited content, and conduct that may violate our Terms of Service. A signal from these systems may cause content to be temporarily limited or hidden while it is reviewed.

Enforcement actions such as warnings, suspensions, and bans are subject to human review, and you may appeal a decision as described in Section 13. These automated systems are not intended to produce legal or similarly significant effects on you without an opportunity for human review.

5. Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, we rely on one or more of the following.

A. Performance of a Contract

We process information necessary to provide the Service you requested, including:

• Account management
• Profiles, including the profile characteristics required for matching (such as gender and sexual preference)
• Activities
• Recommendations
• Messages
• Location-based results
• Customer support

B. Legitimate Interests

We process information where reasonably necessary for legitimate interests such as:

• Securing the Service
• Preventing fraud, spam, and abuse
• Protecting users
• Moderating content
• Improving the Service
• Understanding general usage
• Communicating important service information
• Establishing or defending legal claims

We consider the effect of this processing on your rights and interests before relying on this basis.

C. Consent

We rely on consent where required, including for:

• Precise device location
• Optional marketing communications
• Nonessential cookies or analytics technologies
• Other optional features identified when consent is requested

You may withdraw consent through your device, browser, account settings, or by contacting us.

Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

D. Legal Obligations

We process information where necessary to comply with:

• Applicable laws
• Regulatory requirements
• Court orders
• Other binding legal obligations

E. Vital Interests

In limited circumstances, we may process or disclose information when reasonably necessary to protect someone from a serious and imminent threat to life or physical safety.

6. Information Visible to Other Users

Pairhound is a social service. Certain information is disclosed to other users as an essential part of the Service.

Depending on your settings and actions, other users may see:

• Your display name
• Profile photographs
• Biography and interests
• General or approximate location
• Estimated distance
• Availability status
• Activities you create
• Activities you join or request to join
• Participation status
• Messages or content you send to them
• Other information you choose to make visible

Activity organizers may receive information needed to evaluate and manage participation requests.

Activity participants may be able to see the organizer and other participants.

You should not publish:

• Your home address
• Personal financial information
• Government identification numbers
• Passwords or login credentials
• Detailed workplace schedules
• Other information that could create a safety risk

Blocking another user limits future interactions through Pairhound but may not erase content that the other user previously received, copied, or saved.

7. Location Information and Free Tonite

Location information is central to Pairhound's ability to recommend nearby people and activities.

A. Base Location

You may provide a:

• City
• Neighborhood
• Region
• Postal area
• Similar base location

Depending on the Service's settings, this information or a less precise version may be visible to other users.

B. Device Location

When you enable a feature requiring device location, Pairhound may receive precise or approximate location information from your device.

You can revoke this permission through your device settings.

Disabling location permission may limit nearby recommendations or prevent some features from working.

C. Free Tonite and Similar Availability Features

When you enable Free Tonite, Pairhound may use your selected or current location to:

• Show relevant people or activities
• Display that you are available
• Rank nearby results

Your visible Free Tonite status automatically expires or resets according to the feature's stated schedule.

Expiration of the visible status does not necessarily cause immediate deletion of every related:

• System log
• Security record
• Diagnostic record
• Backup copy

D. Location Protections

We seek to:

• Collect precise location only when needed for an enabled feature
• Never share exact device coordinates with other users; show only an approximate location, area, or distance
• Restrict employee and service-provider access
• Retain precise location only for as long as reasonably necessary
• Avoid using precise location for advertising

8. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose information in the following circumstances.

A. Other Users

We disclose profile, activity, availability, participation, and communications information as described in Section 6.

B. Service Providers and Contractors

We use service providers to support functions such as:

• Cloud hosting and databases
• Content and image storage
• Authentication
• Email and push notifications
• Error monitoring and system logging
• Analytics
• Bot, spam, fraud, and abuse prevention
• Customer support
• Payment processing
• Professional legal, accounting, security, and technical services

These providers may process information only to:

• Provide contracted services
• Comply with applicable law
• Protect the security and integrity of their systems

Our contracts restrict their ability to use Pairhound information for unrelated purposes where required by law.

C. Authentication and Connected Services

When you choose to use a third-party sign-in or connected service, information may be exchanged with that provider according to:

• Your instructions
• Your authorization
• The provider's privacy policy

D. Legal, Safety, and Enforcement Disclosures

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

• Comply with law, regulation, subpoena, warrant, court order, or other valid legal process
• Respond to an emergency involving a risk of death or serious physical injury
• Investigate fraud, exploitation, threats, or other unlawful conduct
• Protect Pairhound, our users, or the public
• Enforce our Terms of Service
• Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

E. Corporate Transactions

Information may be disclosed in connection with a proposed or completed:

• Merger
• Financing
• Acquisition
• Corporate restructuring
• Bankruptcy
• Sale of assets
• Similar corporate transaction

A recipient will be required to handle personal information consistently with applicable law.

We will provide notice before information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy where required.

F. At Your Direction or With Your Consent

We may disclose information when you instruct us to do so or provide consent for a specified disclosure.

G. Aggregated and De-Identified Information

We may disclose information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it cannot reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual.

We will not attempt to reidentify information treated as de-identified except:

• To test whether the de-identification process is effective
• As otherwise permitted by applicable law

9. No Sale or Targeted-Advertising Sharing

Pairhound does not currently:

• Sell personal information for money or other valuable consideration
• Share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined by California law
• Process personal information for targeted advertising based on activity across unrelated businesses or services

During the preceding 12 months, Pairhound has not sold personal information and has not shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Pairhound also does not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18 because people under 18 are not permitted to use the Service.

If Pairhound proposes to introduce covered sales, sharing, or targeted advertising, we will:

• Update this Privacy Policy
• Provide advance notice where appropriate
• Provide any legally required consent or opt-out mechanism before the new practice begins

We will not retroactively apply a materially more permissive data practice to previously collected information where doing so would violate applicable law or our prior commitments.

10. Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies

Pairhound and its providers may use:

• Cookies
• Local storage
• Software development kits
• Pixels
• Similar technologies

These technologies may be used to:

• Keep you signed in
• Remember preferences
• Secure the Service
• Prevent fraud and automated abuse
• Measure performance
• Diagnose errors
• Understand general Service usage

Some technologies are essential for the Service to function.

Where required, we obtain consent before using optional analytics or similar nonessential technologies.

You may control certain technologies through your:

• Browser settings
• Device settings
• Pairhound settings

Disabling essential technologies may prevent parts of the Service from functioning.

Pairhound does not currently use third-party advertising cookies to track users across unrelated websites or applications.

11. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

The criteria used to determine retention periods include:

• How long your account remains active
• The feature for which the information was collected
• Whether information remains necessary to provide the Service
• The sensitivity of the information
• Safety, fraud-prevention, and security needs
• Whether the information is involved in a report, dispute, or enforcement action
• Legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, and recordkeeping requirements
• Applicable limitation periods
• The time required to securely cycle information out of backups

In general:

• Account and profile information is retained while your account is active.
• Precise location used for availability features such as Free Tonite is used transiently to generate nearby results and is not stored as a durable location history. Your visible availability expires automatically, and any related security or diagnostic logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary.
• Messages and activity content may remain while an account is active and for a limited period afterward.
• A recipient may retain messages or content you sent even after you delete your account.
• Safety and moderation records may be retained after account deletion when reasonably necessary to prevent repeat abuse, investigate misconduct, protect users, or defend legal claims.
• Transaction and tax records may be retained for the period required by law.
• Backup copies may remain for a limited period until overwritten according to our backup cycle.

When retention is no longer reasonably necessary, we delete, anonymize, or securely isolate the information.

12. Account Deletion

You may request deletion through your account settings or by contacting us.

Account deletion generally:

• Removes your profile from normal user discovery
• Prevents further account access
• Deletes or de-identifies personal information that is no longer needed
• Begins removal from active systems and backups according to our retention processes
• Directs our service providers and contractors to delete personal information they process on our behalf, except where they are permitted or required to retain it

Deletion may not remove:

• Messages or content already delivered to another user
• Information another user independently copied or shared
• De-identified or aggregated information
• Information required to complete a transaction
• Safety, security, fraud-prevention, moderation, or enforcement records
• Information subject to a legal preservation request
• Information we are otherwise permitted or required to retain by law

Deleting the application from your device does not delete your Pairhound account.

13. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Know whether we process your personal information
• Access personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete personal information
• Receive a portable copy of certain information
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Withdraw consent
• Opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or covered sharing
• Limit certain uses of sensitive personal information
• Opt out of qualifying profiling or automated decision-making
• Appeal the denial of a privacy request
• Receive equal service without unlawful discrimination for exercising a privacy right

Many profile and preference changes can be made through your account settings.

Other requests may be submitted to privacy@pairhound.com.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Verification information will be used only to evaluate and respond to the request.

Where permitted, you may use an authorized agent. We may request evidence that the agent is authorized to act for you and may confirm the request directly with you.

If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to the decision or contacting privacy@pairhound.com with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line.

Where applicable law provides for it, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection or consumer-protection regulator.

Privacy rights may be subject to legal exceptions, and not every right applies in every jurisdiction.

14. International Processing and Transfers

Pairhound is operated from the United States.

Personal information may be stored and processed in the United States and in other countries where Pairhound or its service providers operate.

The privacy and data-protection laws of those countries may differ from those where you live.

Where an international transfer of your personal information requires a specific safeguard under applicable law, we rely on a recognized transfer mechanism, which may include:

• Appropriate contractual protections with the recipient
• Additional technical and organizational safeguards
• Another transfer mechanism permitted by applicable law

You may contact us for additional information about the transfer safeguards that apply to your personal information.

15. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, taking into account the nature and sensitivity of the information.

These measures may include:

• Encryption in transit
• Access controls
• Authentication protections
• Logging and monitoring

• Employee-access restrictions
• Secure-development practices
• Backup protections

No transmission, storage system, or security measure is completely secure.

We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure will never occur.

If a security incident affects your personal information, we will investigate and provide notices required by applicable law.

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials
• Using a secure password
• Promptly notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

16. Adults Only

Pairhound is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old.

We do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to create or use a Pairhound account.

If we reasonably believe an account belongs to someone under 18, we may:

• Suspend or terminate the account
• Restrict the account while we investigate
• Request reasonable age-assurance information
• Delete or retain associated information as permitted or required by law

If you believe a person under 18 is using Pairhound, contact support@pairhound.com.

A parent or guardian who believes Pairhound has collected personal information from a person under 18 may contact privacy@pairhound.com.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to:

• The Service
• Our practices
• Applicable law
• Security or operational requirements

We will identify the effective date of each version.

For material changes, we will provide prominent notice through:

• The Service
• Email
• Another appropriate method

Where reasonably practicable, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice before a material change that expands how personal information is used or disclosed.

A shorter period may apply where a change is required to address:

• Applicable law
• Security threats
• Fraud
• An urgent operational issue

Where applicable law requires consent for a new practice, we will request consent rather than treating continued use alone as consent.

The version of the Privacy Policy in effect when information was collected will continue to govern that information to the extent required by law or our existing commitments.
