Pairhound - make friends in the real world

These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Pairhound LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as Pairhound ("Pairhound," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms govern your access to and use of the Pairhound website, mobile applications, and related products and services collectively referred to as the "Service."

Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, accessing or using the Service, or selecting a button indicating your acceptance, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not access or use the Service.

1. Eligibility and Acceptance

1.1 Adults Only

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service.

By creating an account or using the Service, you represent and warrant that:

You are at least 18 years old
You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
You are not prohibited from using the Service under applicable law
You have not previously been removed from the Service for serious or repeated misconduct unless Pairhound has expressly authorized your return
The information you provide regarding your age, identity, location, and eligibility is accurate

The Service is not intended for or available to anyone under 18. You may not create an account for, allow access to, or assist in the use of the Service by anyone under 18.

1.2 Age Assurance

We may use reasonable age-assurance measures or request information reasonably necessary to confirm eligibility, investigate suspected underage use, prevent fraud, or protect users.

We may restrict access while an eligibility review is pending. If we reasonably believe that you are under 18 or have misrepresented your age, we may suspend or terminate your account and take appropriate action regarding the information associated with it.

1.3 Other Eligibility Restrictions

You may not use the Service if:

You are required to register as a sex offender in any jurisdiction
You are legally prohibited from receiving or using the Service
Your account was previously terminated for a serious safety violation, fraud, exploitation, or repeated misconduct
You are using the Service on behalf of another person without authorization
Your use would violate applicable trade sanctions, export controls, or other laws

2. Purpose and Nature of Pairhound

2.1 Platonic Social Activities

Pairhound helps adults find other adults for platonic social activities, shared interests, and in-person socializing.

Pairhound is not designed or marketed as:

A dating or romantic-matchmaking service
An escort service
A sexual-encounter service
A professional networking or employment service
An emergency, transportation, healthcare, or security service

You may not use Pairhound primarily to seek:

Dates or romantic partners
Sexual encounters or sexually oriented relationships
Escort or adult services
Sexual content or sexual conversations
Access to minors for any purpose

This restriction governs the intended use of the Service. It does not attempt to regulate lawful personal relationships that may independently develop after users meet.

Pairhound does not guarantee that another user shares your intentions, interests, expectations, or understanding of an interaction. You are responsible for communicating appropriately, respecting personal boundaries, and ending contact when another user indicates that contact is unwanted.

2.2 User-Organized Activities

Unless an activity is expressly identified as an official Pairhound activity, activities displayed through the Service are created and organized by users rather than Pairhound.

For user-organized activities:

Pairhound is not the organizer, host, sponsor, supervisor, employer, agent, partner, or representative of the organizer or participants
Pairhound does not control the activity, venue, transportation, equipment, organizer, or participants
Pairhound does not guarantee that an activity will occur as described
Pairhound does not guarantee that any organizer or participant will attend
Pairhound does not endorse an organizer, participant, venue, or activity merely because it appears through the Service

Activity organizers are responsible for:

Providing materially accurate information
Disclosing significant risks, costs, restrictions, or requirements
Communicating cancellations and material changes
Obtaining any permits, reservations, insurance, permissions, or licenses that may be required
Complying with applicable laws and venue rules
Avoiding unreasonable, concealed, or misleading risks

Participants are responsible for deciding whether an activity, organizer, participant, location, transportation arrangement, cost, or other circumstance is appropriate for them.

3. Accounts and Account Security

3.1 Accurate Information

You agree to:

Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information
Use your genuine age and identity
Keep your profile and account information reasonably current
Maintain only one personal account unless Pairhound gives you permission otherwise
Keep your login credentials secure
Promptly notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization

3.2 Prohibited Account Conduct

You may not:

Impersonate another person or organization
Create an account for another person without authorization
Provide a false date of birth
Misrepresent your identity, intentions, location, qualifications, or relationship to an activity
Buy, sell, rent, transfer, share, or lend an account
Use another person's account
Permit another person to use your account
Permit or assist a person under 18 to use the Service
Create a replacement account to evade a warning, block, restriction, suspension, or termination
Circumvent an age screen, eligibility review, or other safety measure

You are responsible for activity conducted through your account to the extent permitted by applicable law.

3.3 Account Security

You must use reasonable measures to protect your account. Pairhound is not responsible for losses caused by your voluntary disclosure of credentials, failure to secure your account, or authorization of another person's access, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Contact support@pairhound.com promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Community Conduct, Activities, and Personal Safety

4.1 Community Standards

You must use Pairhound lawfully and treat other users respectfully.

You may not use the Service to:

Harass, bully, threaten, stalk, intimidate, shame, or abuse another person
Continue contacting someone after that person has asked you to stop, blocked you, declined an invitation, or otherwise indicated that contact is unwanted
Groom, exploit, sexualize, manipulate, or seek inappropriate access to a minor
Encourage a person under 18 to create an account or misrepresent their age
Post, request, transmit, possess, or facilitate child sexual abuse material or other sexual content involving a person under 18
Send unsolicited sexual messages or images
Request sexual content
Engage in romantic or sexual solicitation
Promote violence, self-harm, illegal conduct, or activities involving serious undisclosed risks
Engage in unlawful discrimination or hateful conduct
Organize, promote, or facilitate an illegal activity
Defraud, deceive, impersonate, extort, blackmail, or manipulate another person
Request money, loans, investments, account credentials, financial information, cryptocurrency, or gift cards from other users
Send spam, phishing messages, chain messages, or unsolicited commercial promotions
Advertise or charge for an activity without clearly disclosing its commercial nature and all required payments
Share another person's private or identifying information without permission
Photograph or record another person where consent is legally required and has not been obtained
Upload malware or interfere with the security or operation of the Service
Scrape, crawl, index, harvest, copy, or collect user information through automated means without our written permission
Use bots, scripts, artificial accounts, or unauthorized automated systems
Reverse engineer or attempt to access nonpublic portions of the Service, except where such restrictions are prohibited by law
Violate another person's intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other rights
Evade a reporting tool, content filter, rate limit, block, account restriction, or enforcement decision
Move a conversation off the Service for the purpose of evading Pairhound's age, safety, reporting, or moderation protections

These restrictions apply even when another user initiated the interaction or misrepresented their identity or age.

4.2 Personal Safety

Pairhound does not routinely conduct criminal background checks, identity investigations, sex-offender-registry checks, or comprehensive screening of users unless we expressly state otherwise.

Any identity, age, email, telephone, photograph, or other verification indicator is limited in scope. It does not guarantee a person's identity, age, history, intentions, honesty, conduct, or safety.

When communicating with or meeting another user, you should:

Initially meet in a populated public place
Arrange your own transportation
Tell a trusted person where you are going and when you expect to return
Avoid sharing your home address, financial information, passwords, government identification numbers, or other sensitive information
Avoid sending money or financial assets to another user
Leave immediately if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe
Report concerning conduct through the Service or by contacting Pairhound
Contact local emergency services if you or another person may be in immediate danger

Pairhound is not an emergency service and does not monitor communications in real time.

4.3 Assumption of Risk

Interactions and in-person activities may involve risks, including risks caused by:

Other users
Organizers
Venues
Travel or transportation
Physical activity
Weather
Equipment
Alcohol or other substances
Inaccurate or incomplete information
Criminal, reckless, negligent, or intentional conduct

You are responsible for evaluating and accepting the risks associated with your communications, meetings, activities, and interactions.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you assume the risks inherent in interacting or meeting with other users and participating in user-organized activities.

4.4 Payments Between Users

Unless Pairhound expressly provides a payment feature and identifies itself as the payment provider or merchant, Pairhound is not a party to financial arrangements between users.

Pairhound is not responsible for:

Fees charged by organizers, venues, or other users
Refunds for user-organized activities
Purchases made outside the Service
Transportation, admission, food, equipment, or related expenses
Financial disputes between users

Organizers must clearly disclose required fees before another user agrees to participate.

5. User Content and Intellectual Property

5.1 Your Content

"User Content" includes profile information, photographs, activity listings, comments, messages, reports, reviews, appeals, and other material submitted through the Service.

You retain ownership of your User Content.

You represent and warrant that:

You created the User Content or have all permissions necessary to use it
Your submission and Pairhound's permitted use of the User Content will not violate another person's rights
The User Content is accurate where it purports to state facts
The User Content complies with these Terms and applicable law

5.2 License to Pairhound

You grant Pairhound a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, format, adapt, and technically modify your User Content solely as reasonably necessary to:

Operate and provide the Service
Display content to the audience you selected or reasonably intended
Maintain compatibility across devices, systems, and formats
Provide recommendations and search results
Protect users and investigate reported conduct
Enforce these Terms
Comply with legal obligations
Maintain backups and business continuity

Pairhound may sublicense these rights to service providers working on our behalf, but only as reasonably necessary to provide their services.

Pairhound will not use the contents of private messages in public advertising without separate permission.

This license generally ends when your User Content is deleted, except where:

Temporary backup copies remain
Retention is reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, safety, legal compliance, disputes, or enforcement
Another user has independently retained content you shared
Content remains incorporated into a conversation, activity record, report, or other material involving another user
Applicable law permits or requires continued retention

5.3 Content Visibility and Copies

Information you make visible to other users may be copied, saved, photographed, or shared by those users outside Pairhound.

Blocking another user or deleting your account may prevent future access through the Service but cannot guarantee deletion of copies previously received or saved by another person.

5.4 Pairhound Property

Pairhound and its licensors retain all rights in the Service, including its:

Software and source code
Branding, names, and logos
Interface and visual design
Databases and data compilations
Documentation
Recommendation and ranking systems
Non-user content

Subject to these Terms, Pairhound grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to access and use the Service for its intended purposes.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, license, or exploit Pairhound property except with our written authorization or as permitted by applicable law.

5.5 Feedback

If you voluntarily submit ideas, suggestions, or feedback concerning Pairhound, you grant us permission to use that feedback without restriction or an obligation to compensate you.

5.6 Copyright Complaints

Pairhound respects intellectual-property rights and may remove content that we reasonably believe infringes those rights. We may restrict or terminate accounts belonging to repeat infringers.

A copyright complaint should include:

Identification of the copyrighted work
Identification and location of the allegedly infringing material
Your name and contact information
A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is unauthorized
A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the rights holder
Your physical or electronic signature

6. Privacy, Communications, and Third-Party Services

6.1 Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information and describes the rights and choices available to users.

The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Acceptance of these Terms does not constitute consent to every form of personal-information processing. Where applicable law requires consent for a particular practice, we will request it separately.

6.2 Electronic Communications

You agree that Pairhound may send you electronic communications concerning:

Account registration and authentication
Security alerts
Safety warnings
Messages and activity updates
Support requests
Enforcement actions
Changes to these Terms or the Service
Other transactional or legally required notices

Marketing communications, where offered, will be subject to applicable consent and opt-out requirements.

You are responsible for maintaining a current email address and reviewing notices delivered through the Service or to the email address associated with your account.

6.3 Third-Party Services

The Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, authentication providers, payment processors, maps, venues, transportation providers, or other services.

Pairhound does not control and is not responsible for third-party:

Content
Conduct
Availability
Security
Privacy practices
Products or services
Terms and policies

Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider's terms and policies.

6.4 App Stores

If you download a Pairhound application through an app store, your use may also be subject to the app store's terms.

The app store provider is not responsible for Pairhound's operation, support, maintenance, content, or handling of claims except to the extent expressly required by the app store's terms or applicable law.

7. Service Availability and Changes

7.1 Service Availability

We may add, modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue features or portions of the Service.

We do not guarantee that:

The Service will always be available
Every feature will be available in every location
The Service will be compatible with every device
User Content will always remain available
A particular feature will remain unchanged

Where reasonably practicable, we will provide advance notice before materially reducing or discontinuing a paid feature.

7.2 Beta and Test Features

Pairhound may offer experimental, preview, beta, or test features. Such features may be incomplete, contain errors, change without notice, or be discontinued.

Beta and test features are provided as available and should not be relied upon for safety-critical or time-sensitive purposes.

7.3 International Availability

Pairhound is operated from the United States. We make no representation that the Service is appropriate or legally available in every country or jurisdiction.

You are responsible for complying with laws applicable to your use of the Service.

We may restrict or discontinue the Service in any country, state, province, territory, or region where continued operation creates legal, regulatory, safety, security, or operational concerns.

8. Moderation, Reports, Suspension, and Termination

8.1 Reports and Moderation

You may report users, content, messages, or activities through Pairhound's reporting tools or by contacting support@pairhound.com.

Pairhound may use automated systems, human review, or both to:

Detect possible violations
Prioritize reports
Restrict suspicious activity
Review reported content
Identify spam, fraud, abuse, or safety concerns
Enforce these Terms

We do not undertake to monitor every activity, account, or communication and cannot guarantee that every violation or harmful user will be detected.

8.2 Enforcement Actions

Where permitted by law, we may take actions including:

Removing or restricting content
Reducing content or message visibility
Applying messaging or participation limits
Restricting discovery, invitations, activity creation, or account features
Requiring additional age or identity information
Issuing a warning
Temporarily suspending an account
Permanently terminating an account
Cancelling an activity listing
Preserving relevant records
Reporting conduct to law enforcement, emergency services, or another appropriate authority

We may take immediate action without advance notice when we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect users, preserve evidence, prevent fraud, comply with law, or address serious or repeated violations.

8.3 Explanations and Appeals

Where required by applicable law or reasonably appropriate, we may provide an explanation of an enforcement decision.

We may withhold information when disclosure could:

Endanger another person
Compromise another user's privacy
Reveal confidential security or fraud-prevention methods
Interfere with an investigation
Facilitate circumvention of our rules
Violate a legal obligation

You may appeal an eligible enforcement decision by contacting support@pairhound.com within 30 days after receiving notice of the decision. Your appeal should identify the account and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered.

8.4 Account Deletion

You may delete your account through the available account settings or by contacting us.

Account deletion does not require Pairhound to delete information that may lawfully be retained for:

Safety and fraud prevention
Legal compliance
Tax or accounting obligations
Dispute resolution
Enforcement
Security
Backup integrity
Protection against repeat registrations

Deleting the application from your device does not delete your account.

8.5 Survival

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect, including provisions concerning:

User Content
Intellectual property
Disclaimers
Liability limitations
Indemnification
Disputes
Governing law
Retained records

9. Disclaimers, Liability, and Indemnification

9.1 Service Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available."

Pairhound disclaims all express, implied, and statutory warranties, including warranties of:

Merchantability
Fitness for a particular purpose
Title
Noninfringement
Accuracy
Security
Availability
Compatibility

Pairhound does not guarantee:

Uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure operation
The identity, age, accuracy, intentions, history, honesty, or conduct of a user
Compatibility between users
Attendance at or successful completion of an activity
The legality, safety, quality, condition, or suitability of an activity or venue
The accuracy of profiles, activity listings, messages, recommendations, distances, or locations
That every harmful user, activity, message, or item of content will be identified or removed
That a user will comply with these Terms or applicable law

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some exclusions may not apply to you.

9.2 User Conduct

Pairhound is not responsible for the acts or omissions of users, organizers, participants, venues, businesses, or other third parties, whether online or offline.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pairhound is not liable for harm arising from:

Communications with another user
An in-person meeting
A user-organized activity
Reliance on another user's statements
Transportation or travel
A venue or third-party service
Content copied or shared by another user
Unauthorized or unlawful conduct by another person

Nothing in these Terms requires you to waive a claim that applicable law does not permit you to waive.

9.3 Exclusion of Certain Damages

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pairhound LLC and its members, managers, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for:

Indirect damages
Incidental damages
Special damages
Exemplary or punitive damages
Consequential damages
Lost profits
Lost revenue
Lost data
Lost goodwill
Lost opportunities
Business interruption

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory asserted and even if Pairhound was advised that such damages were possible.

9.4 Liability Cap

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pairhound's aggregate liability arising from or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

The amount you paid directly to Pairhound during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or
US$100

The limitations in this section apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury where applicable law prohibits such a limitation.

These Terms do not limit mandatory consumer rights.

9.5 Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Pairhound LLC and its members, managers, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors, and service providers from third-party claims, damages, liabilities, judgments, losses, and reasonable legal expenses arising from:

Your User Content
Your organization or promotion of an activity
Your unlawful, fraudulent, reckless, or intentional conduct
Your infringement or violation of another person's rights
Your material violation of these Terms

You are not required to indemnify Pairhound to the extent a claim was caused by Pairhound's own unlawful conduct.

Pairhound may assume control of the defense of a matter subject to indemnification. You agree to reasonably cooperate with that defense and may not settle a claim in a manner that imposes liability or obligations on Pairhound without our written approval.

10. General Terms

10.1 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to:

The Service
Our business practices
Safety requirements
Applicable law
Regulatory requirements
Security or operational needs

The revised Terms will identify their effective date.

We will provide reasonable advance notice of material changes where required by law. A shorter notice period may apply when changes are required to address an urgent legal, security, fraud, safety, or operational issue.

Where applicable law requires your affirmative consent to revised Terms, we will request it.

Otherwise, continued use of the Service after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.

10.2 Governing Law

These Terms and disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections provided by the laws applicable where you reside.

10.3 Venue

Except where applicable law permits or requires otherwise, any legal action arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Delaware.

You and Pairhound consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.

This section does not prevent either party from:

Bringing an eligible claim in small-claims court
Seeking emergency or temporary injunctive relief
Exercising a right to bring a proceeding elsewhere that cannot lawfully be waived

10.4 No Mandatory Arbitration

These Terms do not require disputes to be resolved through binding arbitration and do not include a class-action waiver.

You and Pairhound may voluntarily agree to mediation, arbitration, or another alternative dispute-resolution procedure after a dispute arises.

10.5 Severability

If a provision of these Terms is found unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, it will be enforced to the greatest extent permitted by law.

If it cannot be enforced, it will be severed without affecting the remaining provisions.

10.6 No Waiver

Pairhound's failure to enforce a provision of these Terms is not a waiver of its right to enforce that provision or another provision later.

10.7 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without Pairhound's written permission.

Pairhound may assign these Terms in connection with:

A merger
An acquisition
A financing
A corporate reorganization
A sale of assets
A transfer of the Service or relevant business

Any assignment remains subject to applicable law.

10.8 No Agency Relationship

These Terms do not create an employment, partnership, joint-venture, franchise, fiduciary, or agency relationship between you and Pairhound.

No user or activity organizer has authority to bind Pairhound or make representations on its behalf.

10.9 Force Majeure

Pairhound is not liable for delays, interruptions, or failures caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control, including:

Natural disasters
Severe weather
War or civil unrest
Government actions
Labor disputes
Internet or telecommunications failures
Utility outages
Cyberattacks
Third-party service failures
Public-health emergencies

10.10 Entire Agreement

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any additional terms expressly presented for a particular feature constitute the entire agreement between you and Pairhound regarding the Service.

They replace prior agreements or understandings concerning the same subject matter.

10.11 Interpretation

Section headings are provided for convenience and do not affect interpretation.

Words such as "including" mean "including without limitation."

The English-language version of these Terms controls to the extent permitted by law. A translated version may be provided for convenience. Where applicable law requires otherwise, the legally controlling version will be determined under that law.
